i just added TWITTER! my user name is LJac in case you decide it might be interesting to follow me. probably safer on twitter than in a dark alley... reminds me, was thinking of investing in some pepper spray. Although, i feel a bit like i would be the type of person who would accidentally spray themselves in the eye

I HAVE A LENS :)

no, it does not mean i just got a monocle (however, that would be really cool. very.. old man in Cinderella). what it means is i joined Squidoo. (squidoo.com)

for those of you who have never heard of Squidoo, the comment that best illustrates it is: "A place for smarties like you to flaunt your expertise. Think Friendster meets Wikipedia. -Daily Candy" now just replace friendster w/facebook, and it might sound less dated...

anyway, my plan is to promote this concept of delicious naturally gluten-free foods, by featuring about 2 of the recipes a week. if any of you want to visit: http://www.squidoo.com/Gluten-Free-Recipes-1

DISCLAIMER: no mom & dad, this is not just a ploy to avoid homework :)

Sisterly Love

my little sister is one of those annoying skinny people who eats bread, pizza, & pasta without abandon and yet doesn't gain any weight.
or should i say, was one of those people until she received a celiac diagnosis about a year & a half ago. now she has a ton more energy; although, it seems like it's been dedicated to expressing frustration at her new dietary restrictions. completely understandable since gluten has somehow fandagled its way into almost everything edible. and most gluten free versions of foods she has tried have not exactly tasted ...good.
as a naturally thin girl this has, apparently, mostly impeded her ability to bake (i know, it's really hard to feel for her when her complaints are that she can't eat pizza, pasta or cookies - being a celiac has done to her what genetics has thrust upon every other girl in north america). her holiday request from her broke older sister was thus, a naturally gluten-free recipe book.
so over the
past weeks i have been on the internet for hours upon hours filtering through gluten free blogs for recipes without 'xanthan gum' 'sorghum' 'guar gum' 'GF mix' & anything else that sounds as sketchy. i discovered this is way harder than it sounds-my inspiration for this blog.
(i am planning on expanding beyond just desserts, for those of you with a metabolism closer to mine)
**my disclaimer, is i am hardly any kind of cook, and not having my sister's metabolism i don't have the stomach to test out recipes. being a procrastinator, however, i have time to devote away from my studies to search for gluten free recipes on the internet and in cookbooks. if you see any errors on my recipes or in how i reference send me a quick email: LJac207@gmail.com. appreciate all your help :)
